If you are not yet familiar, I am Kaleena Faber, owner of Lovebug Doxies 🙋‍♀️ I am a 32 year old married mother of 4. I grew up in the Rockford area, and have always known I wanted to work with animals. As a kid we had a Rottweiler mix, but she came to us already fixed, and I always wished she could’ve had puppies. I was the kind of kid always catching frogs, snakes, making DIY ant farms, and bringing home baby birds. As a teen I acquired my first purebred dog which led me down this wonderful path. I have been a dog breeder for 17 years now. It took me a few years to settle on the breed that was right for me. I owned American Eskimos & Pomeranians at the beginning, but have owned only Dachshunds for the last 10 years. It is a blessing to share little weenies with so many families. Doxies are full of personality and endlessly entertaining.

My other passion is crochet! I am a yarn addict 🧶 In 2015 I opened an Etsy shop named after the grandma that taught me to crochet. Alice Margaret Crochet. I’m very proud of it and it keeps me pretty busy too. This year I expect to reach my 1,000th sale 🎉

I live on 5 acres in Belmont and we’re slowly piecing together a bit of a hobby farm. We’ve got ducks & chickens, fruit trees, and a very large garden. We grow our own hops & brew our own beer. Once the grapes are established we’ll be making wine too! Next year I want to raise a turkey 🦃 for Thanksgiving, and my daughter wants a pet pig 🐖 but I’m not too keen to that idea.

Hopefully this post gives you an idea of who I am. Pretty much an open book. I’m always happy to be Facebook friends with my puppy families. I have several Instagram accounts to follow as well.

The results are in for the Litter Theme poll from last week. Katniss is going to share her Mythical Critters with us this August 🐉🦄 I also added a few winning ideas to my list for future litters! Thank you to everyone who participated.
